On Friday, 60 students from grades 7-12 traveled to Trinity to take in Rising Tide Theater’s production of ‘Saltwater Moon‘. It was a fantastic show that allowed our students to travel back in time to a different period in Newfoundland’s past. The show had some laughs, some tears, a bit of romance, and a lot of history, We would like to thank Rising Tide and the town of Trinity for being such great hosts. Our students got to see a great play and spend a few hours sightseeing in a historical community with that has such great atmosphere. It was a great place to visit and a great way to cover outcomes in Senior English/Intermediate ELA, NL Studies, Grade 7/8 social Studies, and Canadian History. Our students received many compliments on how great they were on this trip – thank you all for being great ambassadors for RIA! We would also like to thank Mr. Cook for Organizing this trip and Mrs. Kim Hansford for her services in getting us there.
Our athletic program is now in full ‘swing’ and our first Crusaders team has competed at a Regional event. Our Senior Girls Softball team participated in the Regional tournament this past Thursday in Clarenville and represented our school well. The girls lost two close games and failed to make the championship game, but they played hard and had a great time. Congrats to Taylor Martin for winning the Sportsmanship medal! Way to go Crusaders!!! A BIG thank you goes out to Kristina Hansford for coaching the girls and for all the work you have put in with them over the summer as well. And thank you to Ms. Katie Hansford for your time and efforts with this team as well!
We urge our school community to be aware of, and help protect the ‘Turkeyeus Martinous’. Be careful when approaching one and use all caution as they often laugh at their own jokes. Be gentle…as an at risk species at RIA…they might not be around here forever!
Great work Science 1206! Great Project Mrs. Smith!
