Invictus 2017

GO Melissa!!!

RIA is getting behind one of our former students, Melissa Smith, who hails from Elliott’s Cove and graduated from RIA in 2004.  We are following the Invictus games that are being held in Toronto and students are learning all about the struggles and triumphs of those who served our country and other countries.  Melissa is competing for Canada in the sports of power lifting and archery!  It is a great event and a great learning experience for our students!

We Are Having A Great September!

What a great first month of the school year!  We have been busy Crusaders…

let’s keep up the good work!

Intermediate Social Studies has been busy:

We have been having Fun in Health:

And, We have been learning all about mountain biking thanks to Mr. Blackmore and Mrs. Rogers:

Our School Community Is The BEST (We may be biased…but still…Go Crusaders!!!)

What a day at RIA!!!

We had a busy day yesterday as we came together and cleaned up our school grounds.  We cleared away the playground and gave it a much needed sprucing up!  We cleaned up the basketball court, beach volleyball court, soccer field, front & back of the school, and we have begun the process of building our outdoor classroom!!!  We are so proud of our students, parents, staff, and community volunteers for coming together and showing their Crusader (and Eagle) Pride!!!

It was especially nice to see the Allan Duffett Memorial Playground get some much needed cleaning and painting on the anniversary of Hurricane Igor.  We hope to make this clean up an annual event as it is a great way to meet the staff and work together to improve our school!

Our clean up started with our students in the afternoon and continued on with students, parents, teachers, and community members long into the evening.  A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Rogers, and Mr. Blackmore for your efforts in organizing and planning this event!  We have a lot of pictures because…well…we had a lot of help!

Getting in Full Swing…

And we are back at it…

Our students in grades 7-12 had a great day in Trinity on Monday!  We saw a fantastic show by Rising Tide Theater and we had a beautiful day to walk around and take it all in.

And we had our Meridian Virtual Reality Sesqui’s come and our Social studies 9 Class had a great time exploring new places in virtual reality!
